A member of several Potter & Craft Associations including the Anglian Potters, Suffolk Craft Society and Craft Potters Association, her work is celebrated for its unique smoke-fired vessels technique. DESCRIPTION

This moon jar, titled 'Small Stone II', is inspired by the ocean surroundings of Moira's home - like so many in her collections.

As the name implies, this art piece's smooth, rounded surface reflects the timeless beauty of a stone, worn smooth by the gentle, persistent caress of water over time. The marbled patterns and the soft hues of white and grey create a sense of calm, while the vessel’s intimate scale encourages closer inspection—much like picking up a small stone along the shore, its weight comforting in the palm of your hand.

The piece may be perfectly combined with either 'Small Stone I' or 'Wind on Tide', all part of a collection Moira made for House of QRA.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

The low temperature firing technique that allows the fire to combine with the clay means that the pots are porous and should not be used to contain food or liquids.
Smoke fired work should be kept out of direct or strong light, as you would for example water colour paintings, wood and photography. As no glaze is used, the pots have been finished off with a matt UV protection sealant and a light coating of bees wax to help protect it. Gentle handling and buffing with a soft cloth maintains the patina.
