ABOUT THE ARTIST
Tove Tengå is a distinguished ceramic artist based in Stockholm. Born in Örebro, Tove’s journey with ceramics began through her education at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design, where she obtained a BFA in Ceramics and Glass.
She has exhibited extensively in Sweden and internationally, with solo exhibitions such as “Pattern of Fate” at Kaolin, Stockholm, and group exhibitions including “Contrasting Craft” at Kaolin, Stockholm, and “Hemma- Gone wild” at JOYN Studio for Svensk form in Milano.
DESCRIPTION
"The Knot," a signature sculpture by Tove, symbolizes the strength and complexity of the bonds we forge in life. These bonds can represent relationships between family members, communities, or our connection to nature. The intricate form suggests the difficulty of severing these connections, echoing the concept of a Gordian Knot, as the can not be tied up without cutting ties. As such, it stands for the strengths of the relationships in our lives; strong bands that are very hard to break.
The sculpture embodies Tove's fascination with creating abstract forms that resonate with deeper meaning. Crafted from her primary material, clay, this piece showcases the artist's dedication to experimentation and letting the "work of her hands shine through."
Drawing inspiration from graphical design and patterns, the artist imbues "The Knot" with a sense of harmony and her own distinct visual language. The abstract form invites individual interpretation, but upon closer inspection, reveals its deeper message.
