SHAPING VISUAL STORIES MADE OF PORCELAIN

Tove Tengå

Tove Tengå is a distinguished ceramic artist based in Stockholm. Born in Örebro, Tove’s journey with ceramics began through her education at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design, where she obtained a BFA in Ceramics and Glass. Her artistic exploration continued through various educational pursuits, including studies in ceramic design at Leksand Folk High School and biomathematics at Stockholm University.

Tove’s work is deeply rooted in the tactile and expressive qualities of clay. Her interest lies in creating groups, or systems, where the pieces form a dialogue between each other. Her inspiration stems from graphic design, illustrations, and patterns, which she seamlessly incorporates into her ceramics.

'I HAVE CREATED A WIDE RANGE OF PIECES, THAT BUILD ON STORY-TELLING AND SENSE-MAKING'

The Knot became Tove's signature sculpture in 2016, since she created it in different sizes, colors, and patterns. The knot symbolizes the strong bonds we have in relations. It can be relations between a mother and a son, the relation between a country or religion, but also to our origin; nature. Bonds that are very hard to break.
