DESCRIPTION
This moon jar by Rachel Peters is a testament to her mastery of form and texture, drawing inspiration from the simplicity and beauty that define her work. Titled 'Code 191', it is one of two pieces Rachel made explicitly for this collection. It stands out for its pure size, perfect form and delicate small opening that stands in contrast to its heavy weight and the robustness of stonewear.
This piece is hand-built through the coiling process, allowing for organic, rounded shapes that embody both softness and strength. Crafted from grogged stoneware clay, the jar’s surface is intentionally left unglazed, allowing the natural texture of the material to shine through. Upon closer inspection, one finds small patterns in the stonewear used that break its dark appearance.
