DANISH MINIMALISM MEETS MINDFUL MAKING

Rachel Peters

Inspired by the clean lines and natural materials of Danish design, Rachel seeks to create works that are both beautiful and calming. She finds harmony in soft forms, biomorphic shapes, and muted colors, allowing the materiality of the clay to shine through.

Originally from the UK, Rachel’s journey with clay began as a reawakening after a career in social work and a life-changing move to South Africa. Now based back in the UK, her studio is a sanctuary for exploration and self-expression. While new to the art scene, her work is already garnering

'CLAY IS MY THERAPY, MY MEDITATION, MY CONNECTION TO EARTH. IT'S A REMINDER THAT EVEN IN THE CHAOS OF LIFE, THERE IS BEAUTY TO BE FOUND IN THE SIMPLE ACT OF CREATION.'

Hand-built through coiling, her vessels and sculptures are a testament to slow, meditative craftsmanship. The focus is on form and texture – elegant shapes that need no decoration, adorned with the subtle nuances of grogged stoneware and a muted palette. Each piece is a tactile invitation to mindfulness and appreciation for the earth's raw beauty.
